
The Opening Ceremony welcomed the world to London 2012 last night, during a spectacular show at the Olympic Park in Stratford.
More than 15,000 performers took part in the ceremony at the newly built Olympic Stadium. The ceremony was attended by Her Majesty The Queen, Prime Minister David Cameron, foreign dignitaries and VIPs from around the world.
More than a billion people around the world watched the official opening ceremony, which started at 8.12pm – or 20:12 on a digital clock.
David Cameron said:
“The Opening Ceremony has been a great showcase for this country. It’s more proof Britain can deliver.”
