In a video message, Foreign Secretary William Hague has offered a warm welcome to everyone attending or watching the Games.
William Hague said:
“I want to say a great warm welcome to everybody who is coming to the Olympic Games. We have organised here in the United Kingdom what we hope will be one of the greatest Games ever… We’re looking forward to everyone being able to cheer on their competitors, their favourite athletes from all over the world. Enjoy the Olympic Games.”
During the Games, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office will welcome more than 100 heads of government and heads of state from across the world.
Meanwhile, British Embassies and High Commissions have been busy ensuring Olympic and Paralympic athletes from across the world arrive safely in the UK, as well as organising special events in their country.
