The Cabinet Committee for the Paralympic Games met this morning, chaired by the Secretary of State for the Olympics and Paralympics, Jeremy Hunt.
They discussed the torch relay, preparations for the opening ceremony this evening, and they looked ahead to the Games. They noted that ticket sales have exceeded all expectations with over 2.4 million sold to date. Transport was discussed, in particular the need for the public to plan ahead over the next ten days – especially because schools are going back, holiday-makers are returning and numerous other high profile events are happening in London over the weekend. The Committee will continue to meet during the course of the Paralympics.
