Weymouth and Portland is offering an Olympic experience like no other, giving people the chance to enjoy a traditional British seaside holiday without having to miss any of the sporting action.

As the host for the sailing events and the largest venue outside London, Weymouth and Portland has put on a full programme of special events – many of them for free – to bring a real sense of celebration and occasion to the town.

Weymouth’s two-screen Live Site has been erected on the beach showing all the sporting action so people can enjoy the sand, sea and sailing at once. Just a stone’s throw from the town centre, this free live site gives people easy access to Weymouth’s famous fish ‘n’ chips, crab sandwiches and Dorset ice cream.

Traditional seaside activities such as donkey rides have been combined with Olympic centred events including: the Sports’ Arena where people can ‘have a go’ at sports from football and rugby to sailing and windsurfing.

Traffic and public transport to Weymouth has been running smoothly and thousands have people have already enjoyed the Opening Ceremony, sailing and cultural events on the sands of Weymouth Beach.
