Jeremy Hunt the Culture Secretary visited the soldiers of 2nd Battalion The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment at Royal Artillery Barracks, Woolwich. Also accompanying the MP were, GB athletes Zoe Smith, Jason Gardner and Darren Campbell. The athletes met the troops in the Officers’ Mess and bombarded each other with questions. The athletes were just as interested in the soldiers as the soldiers were in them. They also thanked the troops for their support during the games and Zoe Smith, 18 year old weightlifter, British clean and jerk record holder in her weight category, offered to train with some of the soldiers once the games were over.
